An Introduction

One of the fundamental elements of Christianity is the fact that the Bible is, indeed, the inspired Word of God (2 Timothy 3:16-17). The Bible is unique among all other books in this regard, and it gives us a rock-solid foundation as we build our faith in an all-loving, all-powerful God.

For many adults, our belief in the inspiration of God’s Word has been built and fortified over a lifetime by gathering evidence that supports this truth. But as we try to bring up another generation to have unwavering faith in God’s Word, it can be a challenging prospect. Young people are growing up in a world that is hostile towards God and His Word. They are the targets of a constant barrage of lies, distractions, and twisted truths.

Is there a way to instill in them, even from a very young age, that the Bible can be trusted? Is there a way to communicate concepts about the inspiration of the Bible in age-appropriate ways, so that our young people can be prepared to give an answer for the hope that is in them (1 Peter 3:15)?

We believe that the answer is “yes,” and we believe that the material you will be presenting this VBS will help you do just that. The Truth Hunters Vacation Bible School is intended to use creative characters and ideas that will help students learn and retain valuable and faith-building information about the inspiration of the Bible. We believe our children need these fundamental tools at a younger age than ever before, and we are grateful that you are playing an important part in teaching them this week. May God bless you!

LESSON ONE: PICK UP YOUR SHOVEL

As we begin the search for truth, our first lesson will deal with the Bible’s ARCHAEOLOGICAL ACCURACY. Your students will learn some of the basics of archaeology and be introduced to a few examples of some of the most faith-building discoveries that have been made in this field of study. They will also learn the importance of CURIOSITY in their search for truth as they meet the first Truth Hunter, ANNIKA.

LESSON TWO: MAKE THE CONNECTIONS

As we continue searching for truth, this lesson will introduce students to the PREDICTIVE PROPHECY found in the Bible, which is compelling and verifiable proof of the Bible’s validity and inspiration. The Word of God has accurately and consistently predicted a variety of historical events, some of which your students will discover in this lesson. They will also learn the importance of HONESTY in their search for truth as they meet our second Truth Hunter, GINNY.

LESSON THREE: OPEN UP YOUR EYES

The third lesson in our study will focus on the SCIENTIFIC FOREKNOWLEDGE of the Bible, providing your students with an eye-opening overview of this fascinating aspect of the Bible’s supernatural qualities. God’s Word revealed scientific truths centuries before those truths were “discovered” in history, and your students will get a closer look at a few examples. They will also meet the third Truth Hunter, CHASE, and learn the value of PERSEVERANCE in their search for truth.

LESSON FOUR: FOLLOW THE THREAD

In this fourth lesson, your students will discover the remarkable UNITY of the Bible, which is another category of evidence that confirms its inspiration. No other book exhibits this supernatural level of unity, and this lesson will help them understand why. They will also learn the importance of COURAGE when they meet the final Truth Hunter, VAL.

LESSON FIVE: OBSERVE THE IMPACT

In our final lesson, we will take a look at the lasting and undeniable LEGACY of the Bible. No other book in human history has had the impact on humanity that the Bible has had. Its unique influence points to its unique status as the inspired Word of God. Your students will learn more about the Bible’s legacy, and will play an engaging game to review all of their lessons from Vacation Bible School.
